LUXURY YACHT - "Christina O"

Why not charter the legendary mega yacht of Aristotle Onassis the "Christina O" for your meeting, conference or incentive?

"Christina O” has undergone the most extensive restoration of a private luxury mega-yacht in maritime history.  Now offered for full yacht charger, the yacht was purchased by shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis in 1954. Onassis spent over $4 million to convert the ship, which he named after his daughter, into the most elegant and advanced private yacht afloat.

The vessel's guest list has included Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, King Farouk of Egypt, opera diva Maria Callas and numerous others. John F. Kennedy first met Winston Churchill aboard the yacht and two of the most celebrated wedding receptions of the century were held on her decks - Prince Rainier to Grace Kelly and Onassis himself to Jacqueline Kennedy.

After Onassis' death in 1975, his daughter Christina donated the yacht to the Greek government.

In 1998, the yacht was bought by John Paul Papanicolaou, an Onassis family friend and shipping industry leader. He began Christina's three-year restoration and now, after more than a quarter-century, the yacht returns to sail into a new millennium in her original grandeur complemented by today's latest technology.

At 325 feet in length, the magnificent yacht includes 18 staterooms, all named after Onassis' favorite Greek Islands, and the extraordinary Onassis Suite which is undoubtedly a centerpiece of the yacht.

Beginning in the summer of 2001, "Christina O" returns to reclaim her dominance of the world's yachting scene and will become available for those who want to become a part of her illustrious legacy.

Carefully restored by an apprentice of the original craftsmen, the inlaid mosaic floor of the swimming pool rises at the push of a button to form a dance floor.
The yacht now has a spa complex that includes a Jacuzzi with open-air bar, massage room, fitness centre, sports lounge and more. Other amenities of the Christina O include a library, music lounge, show lounge, helicopter pad, beauty parlour and formal dining room.

The “Christina O”, famed for magnificent parties, can host events for up to 100 guests using interior facilities and up to 250 in the canopied deck spaces.

"Christina O" is a destination unto itself; cruising the fascinating Greek Isles or beyond aboard this magnificent yacht is the realization of dreams come true.

Reading Society of Corfu

The Reading Society of Corfu was established in 1836, -it is the oldest cultural institution of modern Greece- according to the prototype of the Reading Society of Geneva.

During the first years of work the Society was identified with the liberal and liberating wave that had swept Europe. Thus the Reading Society became protagonist or solidarist in every national and political demand of the Eptanisians.

The Reading Society apart from the general library -of about 50,000 volumes- that also works as reading room, houses the priceless specialized Ionian Library -of about 7,000 volumes- unique of its kind, collections of paintings, old maps and engravings, old magazines, old printed material, documents, letters, newspapers and photographs. For all these a special enlistment and classification has been done, with automation of the catalogues.

The Society has permanent relations with Greek and foreign Scientific Institutions and Universities like the archaeological School of Louvain, the University of Pisa, the Ateneo of Venice, the Pontaniana Academy of Naples and the Ionian University of Corfu.

The Society organizes or hosts many personal, group or retrospective artistic exhibitions, lectures, seminars and scientific conferences.

The Danilia Village, a traditional theme park

The Danilia Village, a traditional theme park located near the capital of Corfu Island, was inaugurated in 1978. The different architectural styles that have left their marks on the island are represented in the village. Visitors travel back to long forgotten times, strolling through small alleys, arcades and porticos surrounded by medieval houses reminiscent of the long Venetian domination. When wandering around the various folkloric museums, visitors can discover typical tools and equipment that were used daily on the Ionian Islands over the past 300 years.

The Danilia village is offered more as an entertainment place for organising formal gala dinners, parties or other meetings. The exhibition hall can accommodate up to 800 delegates and the exterior area up to 2,000 delegates.

The village of Danilia, also known as Bouas. The establisher of the village, Mr. I. Bouas, has built here -from the ground up- a village along traditional lines, making every effort to capture the atmosphere of the alleyways of old Corfu town.
