possibilities for walking. With its rich flora and fauna, dense
vegetation and unspoiled countryside, Corfu is a real paradise for
hikers. Except exploring of secret countryside paths, one can admire
the old villages with its inhabitants, which brings you to different
century.

List of the most
popular walks
Corfu Town by Foot
Walk in the Old Town. Starting at
Saint Spyridon Church, continuing among the tiny streets of Old Town towards
the Old Port, then New Fortress, up through Arseniu Street towards Palace of
Saint George and Saint Michael with coffee break in Art Café. Continuing to
the Old Fortress and walk will finish at Liston.
Total time: 3 hours. It is low
impact walking.
In the footprints of Gods and
Goddesses
Starting at the Monument of
Menekrates (build around 600 B.C.) at Garitsa Bay, we continue walking upwards
towards Kanoni peninsula. You will see remains of a district of the ancient
city of Corcyra. Vestiges of houses and parts of two streets, belonging to
several periods between 4th and 1st century B.C. are to
be seen. Mon Repo Park, spirit of the Temple of Hera Akraia (built in the late
seventh century B.C.), the Temple of Kardaki (dedicated to Poseidon was build
around 500 B.C.) and the Temple of Artemis built between the years 590 and 580
B.C. Also remains of the ancient wall of Corcyra dating from the fifth
century B.C. and Roman Thermal bath at Palaeopolis are to be seen. Last but
not least stop is at Vlacherna Monastery and Pontikonissi (Mouse Island)
followed by refreshments in one of Kanoni’s fine coffee shops.
Total time: 4 hours. It is medium
impact walking.
Return to the Past
Starting at Messongi village, we
continue walking towards Psara, then uphill till we reach the top of the hill
at Chlomos Village. Stunning views, break for coffe and continuing downhill
till Issos Beach – swimming and relaxing. Bus pick up on the way back.
Total time: 4 hours. It is a medium
impact walking.
Reaching the top
 Walk to Mount Pantocrator (906 m
above sea level). It is a difficult walking, however when reaching the top
also most rewarding. The views are breathtaking and refreshments are waiting
for us at the coffee shop located in the highest point of Corfu.
A visit at the old Monastery of Pantrocatoras
is optional.
Total time: 3 hours. High impact
walking.
