The
old settlement preserves its traditional character. Behind the old
fishermen’s cottages which face the pedestrianised harbor square
with its tree-shaded park, there are ruins of a Roman bathhouse,
while in the valley behind the village you find a natural spring in
a glade of plane trees.
Benitses was one of the first communities in
Greece to operate its own biological sewage plant, and
consequently the sea is crystal clear. The resort offers all
necessary facilities. A frequent and regular bus service links it
with Corfu Town and with south of the island. Hotel, rooms to rent,
restaurants, bars, steak houses, tavernas and water sports are at
your disposal. Don’t forget to visit local Shell Museum a unique
display of shells from around the world. |
Benitses is not a very busy resort, however offers very relaxing
holidays for families. Since it is close to Corfu Town, it is
considered to be one of the best-positioned resorts in Corfu. Car
rental is recommended.
